Indictment

A formal charge that someone committed a crime, which leads to a trial.

In more detail

An indictment means a grand jury found enough evidence for a case to go to trial. It isn't a verdict: the person is still presumed innocent until proven guilty.

In a sentence

"After the indictment, the case moves to a trial court."
