How I Lean is a free site for exploring where you lean politically. Use it for your own reflection and learning. Your results are approximations based on how you answered, not professional advice and not a verdict on who you are.
You need to be at least 16 to create an account. By creating one, you confirm that you are.
Give an email address you can use, keep your password (or the Google or Microsoft account you sign in with) to yourself, and keep each account to one person. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from Settings.
Your answers are yours. We store them to show you your leaning and how it changes, as the explains. Your username and picture are private for now, but don't use ones that impersonate someone, include someone else's personal details, or are hateful or explicit. We may remove a username or picture that breaks these rules.
Don't try to skew the results others see, for example by using automated tools or many accounts to mark debates. Don't copy the site's content in bulk, try to get around its security, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.
News stories link to the outlets that published them; we don't endorse any story or outlet. Questions about stories are drafted with AI (Google Gemini) and can be edited by our team. The quiz, debates and results describe each orientation as fairly as we can, but they're simplifications, and we welcome corrections.
Donations are voluntary and don't buy anything: they don't change your results or what the site says. Payments are handled by Stripe under its own terms. Monthly donations renew each month until you cancel; to change or cancel, use the link on the Donate page or write to us. If a payment went wrong, contact us.
We may change the site, its questions or these terms as it grows. If we make a significant change to these terms, we'll update the date above and tell signed-in members. The site is provided as is, and we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
